Georgia Tech’s principle campus, bordered by 10th Street to the north and by North Avenue to the south, inhabits a large part of Midtown Atlanta, positioning it well in spectacle of the Atlanta skyline. In 1996, the campus was the place of the athletes’ settlement and a venue for some athletic issues for the 1996 Summer Olympics. The makeup of the Olympic settlement, along with resultant gentrification of the surrounding environs highly heightened the campus.
