Reconstructed North Bridge

The proverbial , “Shot heard around the world” was fired at sunrise on April 19, 1795, when the Kings army were attempting to seize militia supplies. The conflict began in Lexington but the outnumbered militia fell back. The regulars move on to Concord, where they search for supplies. At the North Bridge in Concord the militia stopped and defeated three companies of the Kings Army.

The battles of Lexington and Concord marked the open outbreak of military conflict between Great Britain and the American Colonies and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.
